Thyroid ultrasound
An ultrasound test of the neck. The probe is placed on the throat while you lie down with your head tilted slightly back. It takes about twenty minutes and you do not need to fast. The report includes the measurements recorded by the machine.
How to prepare
Do not wear necklaces or polo-neck jumpers. Bring your thyroid hormone tests and any thyroid ultrasound scans you have already had.
